AF BMT Graduation Day 1

It took two flights and five hours to get me here, but I made it! No hiccups, no nothing! Everything went so smooth even though I was a nervous wreck! Everyone has been so nice to me and very helpful.

Sad news is that my mother-in-law missed her flight this morning and so she won't be here until later. It kinda put a kink in my travel arrangements, but I was able to adapt and figure out how to get to the base!

Once I landed in Texas I was able to relax in the USO lounge while I waited for my bus to come. I was picked up and dropped off at my hotel on base all within 25 minutes. It was actually pretty nice how quick the ride was. The bus was nothing special, but I was grateful for the ride. It didn't cost me anything and I was dropped off right at the front door of the hotel.

(I apologize for the poor picture quality and the random shadows, I was taking pictures from inside the bus and it was really hard to stay steady and snap a picture without something from the bus interfering.)

Once I got to my hotel and settled in, I realized that I was hungry, having only eaten a piece of toast and half a yogurt since 5 o'clock this morning, and it was 3. I asked the hotel front desk where I could go on foot, because I didn't have a car. Luckily there was a place right across the street.

I walked over to the exchange and there was a lot of construction going on inside, but behind it there was a Burger King. Not my first choice, but I was hungry.
As I was leaving my late lunch stop there was a group of ABs marching by. The leader was a girl, or should I say woman. She was small from what I could see, but boy I sure wouldn't want to mess with her! She was giving them orders and all I can say is I am grateful that everyone isn't required to go through BMT. I wouldn't make it, I just don't do well with people yelling at me. I am very grateful for all of the men and women that are able to make it through though and who serve our country.

So, on another note. I was back at the hotel taking a nap and Chris called me! He got his orders! He is going to Port Hueneme, Ca for vehicle operations and maintenance, or something like that. He called from a payphone and so he was hard to hear. His training there will be 79 days. Yes, that is a lot longer than we thought it was going to be, but the good news is my parents don't want to kick me out yet, and I can visit Chris on the weekends. Port Hueneme is only about 3 hours away and so I can easily drive to see him on the weekends and he can stay off base with me! YAY!

Tomorrow I get to see him and I am so stinking EXCITED! I can just hardly wait to see him in his uniform and give him the BIGGEST hug EVER!!!

Until tomorrow,
